less than two weeks!

We’re into the final whirlwind to the wedding! Our meeting with the florist today granted an added bonus because it was their purge-the-old-flowers-day. Yet, the primary accent flower our bride chose is pretty hearty and durable.

The sample ones lasted for weeks but the florist only keeps them for one week. We got to select a ton from the purge pile to take home and see how well they will look, for free. I’ve cut the ends, placed them in water, and they will be kept in a cool and shaded place.

I’ve never had so much fun with the details of a wedding, not even my own. I filled nine pots with coordinating flowers last month and they are looking good because I’ve kept them clustered under the patio table and umbrella to prevent being drowned in the rain. I haven’t trimmed any of our lush greenery (with all this rain, it’s really lush!) yet so there will be plenty to choose from to add to pots and attach to pillars with decorative ribbons.

The rehearsal and dinner will be at my sister’s massive and historic home and catered by Costco. That means me 😀 and I love hosting family events. There will be less than forty so it’s easily doable for me, especially in my sister’s kitchen with her double oven, 6-burner industrial stove, and so much more. No, I won’t leave her with the mess.

Our sister Rose will be in town in one week, and two of her daughters that have never been to Oregon are also arriving for the wedding festivities. We’re all a bit giddy that this event is finally so close!

I am glad all is moving along smoothly and emotions are up!!!

  2. Exciting times. Know a little of how you feel as my son got married last September. We were looking at the DVD yesterday (again!). Enjoy the giddiness.

Remember, something almost always goes wrong and that’s what make a ceremony memorable. Roll with the punches and if the dog eats the wedding cake, get pictures!!

We hope the biggest glitch was having to relocate the venue last month because of the mudslide/road wash-out on Lolo Pass Road.

Yesterday we got notice there will be road construction beginning the day before the wedding so there will be one-lane delays for anyone coming from I-205.
We’ll see if road access to the event is the biggest issue. 😀
