Rose and Roxy

Roxy Doll Cards by RoseRose Lefebvre is an awesome nature photographer and poet.

Roxanna Matthews is an author of three teen novels, Sanna, Sorceress Apprentice;

Sanna and the Dragons;

Sanna Meets Dauntless Swiftsure.

Roxy is also a poet, and tons of fun.

So – for fun – Rose has what she calls a Roxy Doll and posed it for pictures and added some Mae West quotes. These were made into cards for Roxy as a present. But alas, I can’t share them here and you have to click on the picture and go to Rose’s site to see them.  Neither are sure about the copyright issues as these were created for personal use. (Wouldn’t Mae West want her quotes used?)

Sometimes my brain feels fried over the legalities of being creative and having fun.

I think someone is helping Rose create a business out of her pictures. Check out some of those Rose has taken at the Portland Aquarium, A Summer Solstice party, and A Journey’s Reward.

I’d personally like to see a whole line of Roxy Doll/Mae West cards, and another of Rose’s flowers, but in this world of the moment, awesome stuff can’t be shared for fear of copyright infringement. But at least Roxy can sell her books and Rose can sell her pictures.

And I’m blessed to consider both of these women, my friends.

  1. The Mae West quotes are fun – could they really be copyright? You would think that by now they would be in the Public Domain – but I guess it gets complicated especially when rules differ in different countries.

    What a surprise! Thank you for posting about my photographs and cards!
